Over the years, the Secret Meet has gone from strength to strength. Each year, Adam and his team somehow manage to top what was showcased the year before. Now regarded as one of the great events on the Automotive calendar for car enthusiasts, we’re proud to say that over the years we’ve provided some of the showstopping cars and this year was no exception.
In 2020, you may remember we brought along Squiggles, our factory prototype McLaren F1 GTR Longtail. In 2021, a selection from our current stock were in attendance, including a Bugatti Chiron, sitting alongside not one, but two of Tom’s privately owned ex-Damon Hill multiple Grand Prix winning Williams F1 cars…
In 2022, it was clear to see that the line-up of cars were hitting heights the show had never seen before. Our 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 shared the grid with the likes of Adrian Newey’s McLaren F1 GTR (a car we actually supplied him), a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, Ferrari F40 LM, Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, Bugatti EB110 SS, Koenigsegg CCXR Edition, Porsche Carrera GT and a Lamborghini Reventon to name just a few. With a line up like that, it’s hard to believe that they weren’t even the stars of the show, because it was after all SCDs celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Ferrari.
We’re not sure what the collective noun for F40 is, but when you’re lost for words, the answer becomes irrelevant anyway! One thing we can vouch for though, is it’s hard not to pinch yourself when seeing a long line of poster car F40s stretching as far as the eye can see, as they tear themselves around Donington Circuit.
While the F40 may well have been the star of the show, it was of course Tom in his 288 GTO that took to the front of the grid, closely followed by his ex-Stirling Moss owned F40.
So, how do you sum up just how good the SCD Secret Meet is? Needless to say, any event that leaves us lost for words means that Adam and his team have done something right, and considering their beginnings putting flyers under unsuspecting supercar owners window-wipers, to where they are today is phenomenal. It really is a special event that purely focuses on bringing some of the world’s most iconic and celebrated cars together with like-minded enthusiasts to share an experience like no other. It’s one that we look forward to year on year. Bravo SCD, bravo!
