New Arrival: The Original Ferrari Supercar!

23rd April 2025

The Ferrari 288 GTO was first introduced at the Geneva Salon in March 1984. Built for homologation purposes to compete in the FIA’s Group B for race and rally, it was the first Ferrari to carry the ‘GTO’ name since the iconic 250 GTO. Only 200 examples were required for homologation but there was such an interest in this new model that Ferrari built 72 more examples than required.

This 288 GTO is one of just 272 examples ever produced, making it an exceptionally rare and coveted model in the marque’s history. Delivered new to a then-active Formula One driver, this particular car carries with it an exciting provenance that adds even further to its desirability. With only 9,215 kilometers on the odometer and a short chain of ownership among prominent collectors, it has clearly been cherished and carefully preserved throughout its life.

This is truly a spectacular example and is offered for sale complete with its Ferrari ‘Red Book’ Classiche certification, its original handbooks including its service/warranty supplement (which is something that is not often seen with examples today) plus its spare wheel, tool kit and a dedicated history file.
