The GT Academy offers drivers of all ages and experience levels the opportunity to try entry level GT racing in identical Ginetta G56 GTAs. It runs to a two-class format, GTA and rookie.
2022 marks the second season for Tom in Ginetta and the move up from rookie to GTA series and as per last year, his coaching came from Ben Green. Unlike last year however, Tom adopted a new livery and raced under the helm of Century Motorsport.
The season got off to a flyer at Silverstone with Tom “producing one of the drives of the race as he climbed from 16th on the grid to 7th at the finish”.
Donington followed and Tom had three strong results with 4th, 5th and 7th place finishes. The following rounds at Oulton Park and Brands Hatch were not ones to remember, with either unfortunate incidents occuring on the track or the lack of Tom’s testing time being evident. This left just the final race weekend of the season back at our home track Donington.
We’re pleased to report the final race weekend ended in style with Tom pulling out all the stops to ensure he ended the season on a high. Two 5th place finishes along with a maiden podium in the final race, meant Tom ended the season 6th place in the Championship and the highest placed driver in the Century Team.
A huge thanks to everyone involved in the championship, especially the team at Century Motorsport and to everyone at Ginetta Cars!
