1 of only 5 Scaglietti-bodied Series 1 Ferrari 500 Mondials ever produced.
This particular car was the winner of the 1955 Ethiopian Grand Prix and was pictured in the 1955 Ferrari Yearbook. The attractive chrome detail running horizontally over the front side vents is also unique to this example.
In 1997 it was purchased by one of the world’s most respected and prominent car collectors, where it would remain alongside the likes of his 250 GTO, the ex-Roberto Rossellini 375 MM plus many other special models from Maranello for the next 20 years, before being purchased by ourselves in 2017.
Exceptionally well-restored throughout and granted its Ferrari ‘Red Book’ Classiche certification, which confirms it still retains its original chassis, engine and gearbox.
In addition, in order to protect the very important original engine, the long-term owner commissioned a three-litre, 750 Monza-specification reproduction engine from model experts Hall & Hall. This engine is totally complete including its Weber 58 mm carburettors through to its hand-bent exhaust headers. A very useful addition should the new custodian wish to put the car through its paces on any of the world’s great car events, of which this car is eligible for them all including the likes of the Mille Miglia, Tour Auto and Colorado Grand.
